Artist Profile

Jean Gledhill

I learned the basic skills of painting with an artist called Jan Hill. At that time I worked in watercolours however, more recently, oils are my preferred medium. I have been a member of the Nettleham Art Group since it was was founded twenty years ago. We paint together and have the occasional workshops and demonstrations by visiting well known artists. We hold an exhibition each year during the summer, which is well attended. I have also exhibited for many years in the Chapter House at Lincoln Cathedral with a group called “Mixed Palette” where it is an opportunity to meet other artists and art lovers from all over the world.

Last year I attended an art course led by Christiane Kubrick, widow of the late Stanley Kubrick, at her studio in Hertfordshire. After our frequent visits to the Isles of Scilly I have been inspired to paint seascapes, which have become my favourite subject.

These paintings have been admired and have given me the opportunity to receive commissions. I have a small studio in my garden where I welcome visitors to view my work.
